But I just came across this old radio thing I did a million years ago.  It’s an interview/live in studio thing.  Making me pretty nostalgic.  I wanna get back to that point some day.  I have a lot of people who believe in me, just gotta get back into the swing of things.  Also, Petti moved away so now I need a bassist–anyone interested???

I was only like 12 when My So-Called Life came out and I wasn’t allowed to watch it but always wanted to.  Cooler girls at school would talk about how dreamy Jordan Catalano was and I just pretended to know who and what they were talking about.  Well, redemption comes 16 years later in the form of Netflix online streaming.  The entire first and only season is currently streaming.  I, however, did not realize that there was only one season and just thought only the first season was streaming then I’d have to rent the DVDs.  This has led to a gaping hole in my heart/life.

So last night I watched the final episode titled ”In Dreams Begin Responsibilities” which ended on an incredible cliffhanger filled with Angela realizing that Brian was in love with her.  Jordan loves Angela.  Angela’s dad is on the brink of having an affair.  Ricky came out to Delia for the first time.  Tino still has never actually shown up in an episode.  It really seemed like things were coming to a head and going to make for an excellent second season and then BAM.  It’s over.

Naturally, I turned to Wikipedia to tell me why WHY they did this to me.  You can read the whole article here but basically, Claire Danes didn’t want to be in the show any more.  She won a Golden Globe for her role, was nominated for an Emmy and got to make out with Jared Leto a lot.  Sounds pretty good to me.

Although these actors are all in their mid 30′s now, I still wouldn’t be upset if they came back to film a final episode to wrap everything up.  In fact, I’d appreciate it.  Till then, I’ll join the rest of the cult followers in dreaming about how it ends.

Also, I want to be Angela for next Halloween.

I love when fall/winter rolls around.  Root vegetables are awesome.  Hearty winter greens rock my world.  One of things Carina and I love to make each winter time is what we’ve named “Winter Bowls”.  It’s basically a roasted sweet potato mash with a kale, white bean saute on top.  It’s usually a veggie dish for us, but now that I eat hella meat again, Kevin and I grilled up some chicken sausage and added it to the bowl.  Pretty sweet deal.

Sweet Potato Mash:

Rub 4 sweet potatoes with canola or vegetable oil.  Place on a baking sheet w/parchment paper and bake at 375 for 45-60 minutes.  Let those bad boys cool off a little so you can peel them without burning your fingers.  Peel them and put in a bowl and mash.  Add butter, milk/cream, salt and pepper to taste.  This is your base for winter bowl.

Greens and Beans:  A super simple recipe by the Neelys found here on the Food Network website.  Sub veggie stock if you feel weird about chicken stock.  This is your topping for winter bowl.

Any excuse to use my ramekins is a good one.  I found this recipe on Smitten Kitchen and needed to try it immediately.  I did the “quick method” without heating the pumpkin on the stove and it turned out great, but next time I’m definitely gonna go for the “creamier, silkier pudding” to give it a try.  That sour cream topping is amazing.  I wanna put it on everything.

Saw Michael Ian Black at Cobbs Comedy Club last night.  He is my new hero.  I want to be him when I grow up.  Also, his blog is amazing.  Things he talked about:

-Being a father/shaking his baby
-Being a husband/punching his wife
-Not doing drugs/eating a space cake in Amsterdam

Oh, we also ate some bomb garlic chicken wangz at King of Thai Noodle in North Beach (see below).

On the schedule for this weekend is my friend Kirsten’s music/art extravaganza called Fantastic OptoSonic Projections II: The Stream of Light & Consciousness.  Should be cool.  Music.  Art.  Light.  Nice people who will talk to you about things.  If you can’t handle how nice people are there, the Hemlock is right next door.
